How To: Create a School Educator User

Administrators and educators can create school staff users in the Thimble.io Educator Platform. This article will cover how to create a School Educator user and assign the right account permissions for their role.

Note: School Educators are assigned to a school upon account creation. If you haven't created the school for the Educator yet, be sure to do this first. Refer to “How To: Create a School” to learn how to first create a school in the Thimble.io Educator Platform.

1. Log into the Thimble.io Educator Platform.

2. Click "Manage" → "Users" on the left-side navigation menu.

3. Click the "Create User" button.

4. Click "School Educator."

5. Select the school the Educator will be assigned to by clicking on it.

6. Enter the User Information. All fields are required and need to be formatted correctly (e.g., user@domain.suffix for email address).

   • Note: There can only be one user per email address in the system.

7. Determine and select the right Role Permissions for your Educator. The options are:

   • Admin: Administrators have full account permissions.

   • Edit: Editing permissions allow a user to make changes to the organization.

   • View: Viewing permissions allow a user to see the information associated with their organization.

8. Click "Save Details" to register the user in the system.

If you encounter any issues during the educator creation process, here are some troubleshooting tips:

• Problem: Unable to access the "Create User" button.

  • Solution: Ensure you have the necessary permissions and are logged into the Thimble.io Educator Platform with the appropriate account.

• Problem: Error when entering User Information.

  • Solution: Double-check that all required fields are filled correctly, and the email address is unique. Ensure you haven't missed any mandatory information.

• Problem: Unable to select the school for the Educator.

  • Solution: Confirm that the school has been created and assigned to your account in the system. If not, follow the steps in the provided support article to create a school.

• Problem: Role Permissions not working as expected.

  • Solution: Verify the role permissions and try reassigning them. If the issue persists, contact Thimble.io support for further assistance.
